Stake Out
Don't misunderstand reader, I don't normally "stalk" my subjects
- or anyone for that matter, except in high school and does
that really count? I don't think so. But rather than rush
upon the scene unannounced, I thought it best to sit back
and watch our Duo in their natural environment. Especially
since we are dealing with what I term the Anonymity Syndrome.
That is, Rich and Billy are known only as Best Man and Buddy
Boy to most of the pedestrians at large. We can't simply walk
up and say: "Hey, heard you were superheroes, too."
As punishment for this idea, Mark and Victor hurled their
usual litany of insults in my direction. But I paid them no
mind. I appealed to Victor's limited ability for compassion
and I told Mark that if he was hungry, he could look on the
floorboards of my car for the crumbs from the Fritos he ate
earlier because I was tired of spending the entire budget
on his appetite. That shut them up for a good three minutes.
So we waited outside their modest abode in suburbia (45th
Street to be exact).
And we waited. And waited.
